Political Openness in Early Tang Dynasty and the Flourishing of Poetry in the Dynasty

here is more than one reason for the prosperity of the poetry of the Tang Dy-nasty,but the open politics of the early Tang Dynasty is,without any doubt, the mostimportant one.The open policy of extending its territory to frontiers has brought direct-ly into being the poems depicting the frontier scenery and army life,which in true hasplayed a vital part in producing poems emphasizing military affairs and in forming thebasic tone of toughness of the Poetry of the Tang Dynasty,Its tolerent political beliefshave led to the combination of three religions(Confucianism,Taoism,and Buddhism).It is,in fact,a complete liberation of aesthetic standards which has opened up more pos- sible beliefs to the then poets,The unrestricted change of residence of the scholars atthat time has helped broaden the poets,horizon,helped them cast off the yoke of theconventional ways of living and provided them,in great scope and in different angle ofview,with new and continuous source of inspiration,The open international exchangehas strengthened the poets, national confidence and their proud sense of nation,andbrought to them a dynamic and ever- changing consultation system of value. All thishas made the poetry of the Tang Dynasty(with poems of flourishing period of the TangDynasty(A. D.713-770)as its examples)achieve a unity of national qualities and inter-national one.
