Abjective: To investigate the protective effect of
Shumai capsule on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. Methods:
Rats were prepared to produce a model of myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury by coronary artery ligation for 10 min followed by reperfusion 30 min. Malondialdelyde (MDA) content and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in myocardium, serum creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were assayed by spectroscopy respectively. Plasma endothelin (ET) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) were assayed by radio-immunoassay. Results: CK and ET level increased significantly while SOD level decreased significantly in
ischemia-reperfusion rats compared with those in the sham group.
Shumai capsule can decrease CK, ET, MDA content and increase CGRP, SOD level significantly. Conclusion: Shumai capsule has protective effect on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. The protective effect may be that it can dilate vessels, increase the activity of clearence enzyme of free radical, and inhibit lipid peroxidation.
