Article Summary by: TsingHua

Original Author: Journal of Social Science of Hunan Normal University
This abstract was translated from 民初党会透视
The parties and associations standing in great numbers was an important mark of constitutional practice in the initial years
of Republic of China. They could be divided into three types of different levels: from general political bodies via preparatory political parties to normal parliamentary parties. The parties and associations were mainly divorced from the mass, their political projects arent mostly found, or are found identical with one another or vague and abstract, and narrow and simple. they operated as cliques more or less .Their evolution ran through a course of three stages which included the standing of small parties and associations in a great number, the co existing of a few large parties and the counterbalance between two large parties. The last case was the significant achievement from the practice of party politics. As mentioned above, the practice of party politics at that time, though falling in a valley, went gradually up to some perfection. And the prosperity of parties and associations is of itself a historical progress.
