At present, to conduct curriculum reform with pragmatic attitudea on
modern Chinese literature is and to develop the specialized
personnel. Meanwhile, however, we must stick to humanism, and pay close attention to the problem beyond the above mentioned, like human's spirit, valus, belief. Actually, pragmatic needs and spiritual needs are two basic aspects of the course. We must grasp the two points in teaching so as to foster the students' abilities of seeking the beauty of human nature and art. The course is not only a
historical one,but also intertwines with politics, economics and culture as well. Therefore, we must combine the “historical knowledge”with “current knowledge” in teaching. Only in this way can we solve the key problem of “historical ideas” and “modern ones”.Thus, in teaching, we must try to motivate the students' imagination and activate their thinking for the purpose of helping the students gain both the knowledge of literary history and the emotion and wisdom expressed in the literary works.
