The changes in domestic culture of China can be classified into three stages. The first stage was from the Revolution of
1911 to the May 4th Movement of 1919,which turned out to be the enlightening period of Chinese modern culture.During the period, traditional domestic culture got crticized, while advanced intellectuals put forward on the basis of exposing and attacking the abuses of the old family institutions, the concept of reforming traditional family structure and some new opinions concerning marriage. The second stage lasted from the founding of New China to the late 1970s, that is the end of the Cultural Revolution. The stage witnessed the establisbment of new institutions and new concepts as well as human reverses. Over the stage a fundamental reform of Chinese Domestic Culture was carried out,but at the same time there appeared a political transformation in the same field. The third stage was from the end of the Cultural Revolution till now. It is the period of time for Chinese full reform as ewll as for the shift of Chinese domestic culture from its traditional modes to modern modes. Chinese domestic culture of this period is characterized by its ineffectiveness, plurality and individuality.
