Enlightenment and Pioneering Work

Abstract The discussion about the criterion of truth in 1978 is virtually an educational movement in Marxist theories and an enlightenment movement in terms of Chinas reform,opening up and modernization drive.It has not only prepared theoretically for the Partys decision on a correct line and policy,but also ushered in the renewal of concepts and the prosperity of academic research.Guided by the principles of emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts set up at the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee,the great practice in building socialism with Chinese characteristics and the corresponding theory are gaining momentum in China.In the economic field,the Chinese people did the pioneering work of combining socialism with market economy,which consists of part of the fundamental theories and basic principles of the primary stage of socialism.It can be expected that,at any time and any place that there is division of labor,commodity,currency,and where the law of value is dominant or in the leading position,there must be the market economy system.To combine the market economy system with the basic socialist economic system,political system,and the construction of socialist culture and ethics is the only path to the communist society.
