Soldier

Book Summary   by:Bhoomi     Original Author: Bhoomi
ª

There are certain military quotes – “I am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight” & “Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men”.
A soldier is the person who what I feel signs the bond for his death. He is motivated to a level so high that though he sees his death so imminent but still he cannot leave the scenario.
In today’s perspective, the forces not only fight at the borders but also tackle the problems within the country which ideally speaking is the baby of the Civil Administration but it fails.
Sometimes I feel does a soldier not have a dream to live like an ordinary man. Does he not have a right to spend time with his wife, children and ailing parents? Does he not feel like earning more money and giving comforts to his family? Is he not entitled to the love and affection of his children? Is he not entitled to see them growing up and be a part of the process?
He is always on the move – temporary or permanent postings from Kanyakumari to Laddakh facing all the difficulties of weather and other conditions. He gives his youth to the country.
Do you think a soldier gets enough in return by the nation in terms of money, facilities and rehabilitation?
