ULFA attacks in assam,india

Book Summary by: siddh

Original Author: bharat jain
In January 2007,the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) killed over 70 people,mostly poor migrant workers.Ever since
its foundation in 1979,the ULFA has been demanding that the non-assamese ,especially Hindi-speaking people,leave Assam. Many ULFA leaders are already arrested and are in jail. They demand an independent and sovereign socialist Assam.Apart from this what they need is:
1) demand to end or suspend army operations against iys cadres;
2) release of its top leaders captured by the security forces;
3) third party mediation for peace talks;
4) holding talks in world fora like the united nations.
ULFA has links with a large number of external organisations. Some of these are intelligence agencies that directly aid and abet anti-India activities.
