Abstract
Garbage is one of the severe environmental problems, our country is trying to solve nowadays. On the other hand our country is also suffering from economical problems.
We aimed to produce tiles which are higher in quality and trends not to break easily, with the use of eggshells, to help solve environmental problems and economical problems at the same time. By recycling the eggshell we could help to lessen problems on garbage. And by producing a higher quality of tiles that would be in demand in the market and we could help to solve economic problems.
We have decided to make clay tiles, to test the effectiveness of eggshells in improving the quality of tiles. (Different tiles were made the other one was) the eggshell was pounded into fine powder then set aside.
Two equal amount of clay were wedge, but the other one was sprinkled with eggshell powder, and the other one wasn’t. They were laid to dry and then fired. Due to we are in a tropical country and we have no fire place here so our group made an improvised one made out of galvanized iron made in the form of rectangle. Then they were bummed all day and cool in the coals overnight. The next morning the coals were naked and the tiles are ready to be tested. They were tested by dropping at different height at the ground. After the trials the tiles with eggshell was proven to be more stronger. We conclude that the eggshell was effective in improving the quality of tiles.
