I would like you all to imagine something, so close your eyes if you please, imagine it Is 20 or 30 years from now, you are married, working class with 3 children. But life is not good; the
country has been plunged into darkness. Yes the sun may still be shinning and the birds singing, but they are the only noise to be herd, no one speaks, the radios and televisions are silent and the entire world has been engulfed by this evil presence. No you are not deaf; you are
simply abiding by the law, the law that says we mustn’t say anything in case it upsets anyone else, the law of
political correctness.
Open your eyes please. Do you want your world like this? No? Then keep listening!
What is political correctness? Political correctness is changing a language and that language’s sayings to support different
cultures or theses involved in a broad, long lasting, political issue. In short, changing what people are supposed to say.
The item that brought political correctness to my attention was how many councils across our country are having a huge argument as to whether Christmas
lights are still allowed to be called Christmas lights and in some cases if we should have them at all as they may offend other cultures.
Well I find this entire debate preposterous. Why should we as a country change our traditions and values simply to please other people who are not native to our land? If I or any of you were to go to a Middle Eastern country we would not expect that country to change its customs and beliefs simply because you or I were in there country.
And of course the major question is who actually created this dispute? Was it the Muslim and Islamic citizens? Or was it simply a white citizen in the council who simply has too much time on there hands? I am friends with a selection of people all of which are from different religious and I have asked them if they are offended by Christmas light or if they know anyone who is. And the answer is always the same, no they love Christmas lights as much as anyone else and so long as they are allowed to keep with the religions they are happy.
Some people have said to me that we are no longer in a Christian country, and yet we obviously still are when someone stops to think about it, if only for a few more years. For we still rest on the Sunday, still have Christmas celebrations and Easter television programmes and all magazines still have Christmas shopping and items in them.
Political correctness is needed however due to us not wishing to insult our foreign friends and associates. A “code” has to exist outlining what is acceptable for all citizens and what is not and yet this code can not change our lives and routines as it is beginning to do. The main rules and laws of England still need to be enforced strongly without the risk of being called a “racist.” And for women of certain religions to expect that they are automatically allowed a driving licence even with a picture of only a black head dress and a pair of eyes showing. Surely you can see that this is simply ridiculous and the people from these groups and cultures need to start realising if they wish to live on our homeland for whatever reason, they themselves have to adapt, not us!
Of course, there are many British people who find this whole issue funny, and there are some examples that are so outrageous that they are funny.
And so I have decided the best way to symbolise how ridiculous political correctness has become is by stating some of the examples I have come across over the years:
Who has herd the song
ba ba black sheep? Yeah we all have, but have you every considered that our government expect us to know sing ba ba grey sheep to our siblings and, in time, children.
One may no longer ask for a black coffee, it must be a coloured coffee or a coffee with no milk?
It must be a chalk board instead of a black board. A gingerbread person. And my personal favourite, someone is not small, they are vertically challenged.
And so, to conclude, it is time that we strike back against this overtaking of other cultures discussed as political correctness. That is, unless we want our children and siblings simply excepting this travesty!
And so, to finish, I say this. If you do not like this country and they way we are, use our country’s favourite human right. You have the right to leave!
Thank You
