HINDUISM PAINTED BLACK

Book Summary by: konthai

Original Author: Prof Visweshara Rao
Write your abstract here.Summary of BookReview in ASIAN AGE by Prof Visweswara Rao. ABSTRACT of the REVIEW of a BOOK
in  '' ASIAN AGE                             by    PROFESSOR   P.L. VISHVESWAR RAO       This
voluminous  book provides  scope for" both interesting and indignant
reading   ".  Elaborating  this ,he says, interesting because it
exposes fallacious interpretations   by AMERICAN authors  of HINDUISM
and its facets and manifestations which are beyond their capacity   to
comprehend ,and indignant because of the  unwanted prejudice   they try
to create by distorting and degrading   our values  with a hostile
attitude  to HINDU culture., and civilisation  Various incidents  in our  sacred texts ,(Puranas) are   mis- interpreted in Freudian terms. To illustrate a few,   ''Bhagavad Gita'' is interpreted as a dishonest book ''promoting war'',Swami   Ramakrishna Paramahamsa is labelled as a '' pedophile ;   etc   with such and worse obscenities ,not even sparing "Hindu Gods like Ganesha,Shiva  etc                          These vituperation have been going on for some decades as  many   white, Judeo/Christian   " scholars"  from various schools of   South Asianstudies in US have been pathologising
''Hinduism'' .  It is a pity  that not only these ''scholars'' have been
rewarded  but also their books have been prescribed as reading material
in Colleges and Universities in US by the state and their''Hindu- Phobic '' views gained credence  with the mainstream. When
the whole world watches  INDIA  re-surging as a GLOBAL POWER,   the
systematic  action in undermining the core  icons and ideals   imbibed
in the   images of Indian culture and civilisation are     being  denigrated   by these  scholars from  their "experiences",   they have  to
be viewed as not "merely academic pursuits" but as a systematic
invasion by institutional proxies. Moreover,  these
distorted   images  projected in the minds of    the vast  number of
younger generations, both in America and India are   likely  to create
a  wholly  wrong shape of their perception  of our country   and
its culture , influenced by  the myopic   views of  these '' scholars''
''.This state of affairs ,is wholly unjustifiable    as  our views, and
experiences when  denied access to ,make the general public ,(including
the younger generations), susceptible  to entirely wrong notions about
our culture. It is this  insidious campaign against Hinduism
which provoked  our writers and thinkers in US to "talk back  and the
present book is the culminations of this effort."
Although some reviewers view this campaign   against  Hinduism as a
security threat of our sovereignty, it is  more  prudent  ''to debate
and discuss rather than react  now   as confidence in our our own
cultural  and civilisational   heritages should be  better expressed through
reason and debate.
