Tributes and Homage to expired loved ones
Tributes and Homage to Elders who left us and the Physical world
Remembering forefathers, relatives
who expired, paying tributes to them is a practice followed by all world over. In India, it may be practiced remembering loved ones living and not living. During a specific period during a year, before Winters set in India, but after Monsoon rains, sometime during September and November, before Navratras Pooja festival-all Hindus consciously remember, recall, seen or unseen expired loved ones, pay tributes offering flowers, praying for their well being, wheresoever they are, wheather in this physical world or not. Even imagining, as if they need water, food, money-Hindus pour water in plants, in front of The Sun, make delicious food and offer to individuals imagining that all living close ones, are representing the departed souls. Even Priests are invited for special food made on these days. All these activities of praying, remembering and paying homage are performed in the morning before breakfast. Primarily these fifteen days are dedicated for this purpose of prayers for them. Many rituals and traditions are in practice, but youngsters are not completely aware of significance of these allocated days of the year. As a consequence-rituals continue to be in practice and the original purpose for seeking blessings from departed souls is getting lost. Traditions and rituals, all over are loosing ground, because of communication gap. The question is –Who does not remember forefathers, departed loved ones, most of us do. But consciously remembering them, recalling their loving characterstics, paying tributes is like getting attached and fueling one’s roots. The cause is noble, and it brings tremendous peace at nerves, calm in the body and divine blessings are solicited. A sensation, a vibration- that we always look for. ashwani
