LAMB started in Los Angels, USA, as a grove of praying individuals with a vision for quality medical work in northern Bangladesh. The
land was purchased between 1969 and 1972 by the American santal mission.
LAMB officialy began in 1979 with outpatient and mobile clinics.The community health program expanded gradually through the 1980s and plans for and constraction of the hospital took place.A 50 bed hospital opened in october 1983 and has since been increased to 75 beds.
LAMB hasexpanded beyond the expectation of most of those involved during the early days.LAMB is now recognized within Bangladesh as a first class health and development project.
LAMB is initially supported by Lutherans as an expression of God''s love. The project has grown and is now severd by an international and interfaith team of health care professionals and educators. This srevice team includes loving induvisuals from many countries working with Bangladesh nationals to serve the poor of Bangladesh. The Christian, Hindu and Islam faiths are all represented in the excellent service team that drives this important project.
