PART II "The Shah of Iran whom I know".

Article Summary by: Veswan

Write your abstract here.   PART II  "The Shah of Iran whom I know".   Saudi Arabia was the first OPEC
member to offer friendly price of US$9.80 a barrel to selected friendly countries. Petromin export  was during that period 10mbpsd .   I shall revert to the subject later on but first I want to give you the underlying  orientation how I was involved in important oil policy planning and investment for H.R.H. Crowne Prince Fadh.   In 1970, two years before oil crisis, I was in Tehran to negotiate contract to supply 100,000 tons refined white sugar 99.997% polarisation to Iran which the Shah wanted to give African as an aid with contract awarded at buying price of US$1,800 per ton to his brother who chaired Bank Melli Iran, Iranian Central bank and Commercial bank and NINOC.  I spent 4 weeks in Tehran Intercontinental hotel where the Shah sent for me and presidents of 14 US Mini-Major Oil Corporations in his fleet of Royce Rolls Phantom V Limousine every afternoon to join high-tea in his lavishly decorated palace.   Shah sat in his diamond-stud ornately carved solid platinum chair middle of the curved ornately carved platinum table while 15 of us on unstud solid platinum chairs, 4 flanking him on either side along the inner curve while 7 on the opposite side facing him.  The table was impeccably laid down with platinum setting and Bohemian fine crystal set for Cheery, chilled Stolichnen 99-proof Vodka, Rothchild white, Chateau Haut Brun and Italian San Pellegrino gazed mineral water, with platinum plate beneath Villeroy Buch bone china wares and serviette for everyone.   Odorless fresh pink Marlin's eggs from Persian gulf served in decorated oval platinum plates in the middle of table with cold seafood and air-dried beef plates alongside, separated by Thai orchid bouquets.   There were Gruyere butter and le pain complete and garlic bread for everyone.   We toasted to the Royal Host who is allergic to seafood.   Before embarking on his chair, the Shah told anyone who can lift his chair can have it as a present.    We tried so hard without moving an inch so one of us complained it was nailed to the floor.   He open a big smile ringing his crystal bell twice, then came 4 wrestlers lifting his chair high above to our applauds.   Platinum is heavier than gold and cost 20 times higher.   Shah's brother subcontracted at US$1,200/ton to Mussali who rendered air service in Beyruth to gain US$400 per ton.   He advised me to sell to Mousalli as there was no physical delivery yet so we entered into contract for US$800 per ton with US$400 profit to Mousalli.  I also gained the same profit.   The negotiation between 14  Mini-Majors halted since they insisted for US$4.00/brrl discount but NINOC had to abide by OPEC resolution that granted US$3.00/brrl discount to friendly countries.   The American boasted they had money to buy while NINOC had oil to sell so can't come to term, since the 14 US refineries refused to assign VLCCs for lifting.   I was mandated to find bona fide buyers for the leftover 3mbpsd.   NINOC in jointventure with Aramco was supplying 6.5mbpsd exclusive to 34 US refineries.    So I was invested the authority to sell Iranian Light parcel of 3mbpsd under a 5-year contract.  It is the duty of an enlightened ruler to constantly review nation security,  the Shah is no exception.  During his reign, US Marine and Air Force called upon tenders where US hardware manufacturers participated.   Litton Industries lost so did Fairchild Aircrafts and were about to lay off 70% of their staffs to maintain for a new opportunity that may arise in future.   When the Shah announced tenders, all prominent hardware manufacturers were fully occupied with their production for US Government except the troubled two.   Just before their major layoff, the Shah awarded contract to Litton Industries to build 80 Aircraft Carriers with deck for a fleet of 100 Interceptor/Attackers that turn them into an enlisted Blue Chip overnight, followed by contracting Fairchild Aircrafts to deliver 8,000 Fairchild A10 for 80 Carriers.   This fantastic STOL Interceptor/Attacker fleet were equipped with newly invented 105-Caliber 30mm Magnum Automatic Cannon capable of bombarding 1,200 rounds per minute.   The new Aluminum Alloy Case was invented and manufactured by the retired Col. George Couture, the ingenious proprietor of IVI that superseded the old steel case 20mm Ammo that was heavy and not powerful.   IVI's new Ammo is 14" in length, its destructive power called for extended barrel length to 105-caliber <105 times x 3cm = 315cm> well protruding from the nose of the A10 as well as fully loaded 16,000 ready-to-fire rounds versus 7,000 of the old 20mm less destructive Ammo.      Because of limited space, please read continuation in part III  "H.R.H. Crowned Prince Fadh Al Khaled Bt Faisal Al Turki whom I know".
