Cocacola ( part one)
Act one
Scene one
I wrote this play hopefully looking forward to getting ENCG of
Agadir perform it. Inspiration was drawn while I was writing it it from novels and short stories I read but could not remember their originators)
( The winding streets in a modern-looking avenue look dim and deserted. The day is cloudy and cold. Suddenly, a grey big van appears in the distance smoothly and slowly making its way to the dim street. A loudspeaker echoes in it, broadcasting Cocacola).
Loudspeaker: Happiness is the source of youth and of productivity, guaranteed by a divine drink: cocacola! Drink Cocacola and it will keep you fresh, young and eternally good! Retailers, vending machines will make the task easier for you. Resort to them and their mission will be clear: to make you feel beyond time and beyond space. They will help you discover the essence that would eternally make you feel you are at last good for something.
Shopkeeper: ( excitingly): Cocacola! The van shapes the way for something really good. ( He rubs his hands). Customers are coming at last. That''s a really starting point.
Customer N 1: Hot day today, isn''t it?
Shopkeeper: It is a suffocating day. Is there anything I can do for you, madam?
Customer: Yes, sir, two battles of cold coke, please!
( The van broadcasting Cocacola draws closer)
Loudspeaker: Your vital needs are being considered, making you the way you are: useful and productive. Everything companies have done, they have made it for a cause. Coke! Nothing but Coke! You are designed to be left eternally young and good.
( Many customers rush into the shop. The clientele is excited and demanding. Shouts are heard along and across the counter).
Customer N 2: ( Laughs loudly): We feel ensnared to Cocacola. Nothing to do about it. ....a matter of invisible chains.
Shopkeeper: Patience! Patience dear ladies and gentlemen! Here you are! One Coke, two cokes, three cokes.....One dirham is to be subtracted from the price as a guarantee for bringing back empty bottles
Loudspeaker: ( Standing in front of the shop): Cocacola is a divine drink. It is refreshing and it would make you feel eternally well and young.
