Book Summary by: mysh

Original Author: Mysh

Every year, hundreds of children are injured and sometimes killed in accidents. Surprisingly, many of these
accidents happen at home and can be avoided. We should make sure that we follow basic safety rules at home in order to prevent these accidents from happening.
Children like to put things into their mouths. There have been many cases of children who have drunk poisonous substances. Medicines, for example, are to be taken according to the dosage. Therefore all medicines should be kept out of reach children. Other toxic substances such as detergents, bleaching liquids, etc. should be labeled and kept out of reach.
Children get hurt when they play with sharp objects like knives and can openers. Children can be prevented from opening drawers which have such items by installing a device called “safety locks”. Playing with matches and fireworks can be lead to tragedy. So, make sure all matchboxes are kept where children can’t reach them.
Stairs and balconies must have high railings. This is because children like to climb. There have been cases of children falling off a balcony. It is advisable to supervise children when they are on the stairs and balcony to ensure that they do not hurt themselves. The kitchen is also dangerous place for children especially when cooking is being done. It is always safer to keep children out of the kitchen.
If parents are careful, they can prevent these accidents from happening at home. After all, no one wants his or her child to be injured. We want all our children to be safe and healthy.
