It has been found language is a form of symbolic and creative communication. It is not just a succession of aiming for an immediate effect. Unlike humans, animals generally communicate only in three specific situations. To exchange information about source of food, to strengthen the bonds between partners during the mating season or to call help when danger threatens. The chief characteristic of animal’s communication is that every signal corresponds to only one message.
On a rainy night a frog concert fills the darkness of a pond. He invites the female with its hoarse voice. The serenade locales of a wood are enlivened with beautiful songs of nightingale. The eerie howling of a coyote breaks the stillness of the dry and dusty desert. The sounds of the natural world are all around us, evidence of the richness of animal kingdom. These sounds may be coded messages from animals. But this is certainly language of their own.
Marine animals relay on sound to communicate, especially to communicate, especially at night. Fish often have anatomical adaptation both for making their own distinctive sounds and also for receiving them. Their main instrument is usually the gas filled swim bladder. They make different sounds as there is calling fish. Some grunt and other give long, slow hoots, while at least one makes a noise like a foghorn. Chorusing could have functions like sharing information on where the best patches of food are and perhaps triggering production of the hormones that control spawning.
In some animals, communication takes place on such a sophisticated level that it has been concluded that language of their own is being used. For example an amazing type of communication takes place among honey bees. When one of them discovers a source of food it returns to the hive where it passes this information on to other worker bees. This is done by means of certain dances. If the food is located less around in a circle to attract attention. The location of waggling dance, in the form of a figure of eight. The speed of the dance indicates the distance. For eg 40 rounds indicates 100 meters, while 24 rounds means more than 500 meters.
