Joseph Murphy, in his book, ‘The Power of The Subconscious Mind’ describes how a man dies of heart-attack as he fully believed the prediction of a renowned astrologer. He had chest pain for quite some time. He met a couple of physicians all of whom dismissed it as mere muscle pain. But he did not believe them. He really thought he had a very serious problem. So he approached a well- known soothsayer. After consulting his charts he told him: “On the next Full Moon Day (24th) you will have a massive heart attack. So divide your property among your children and inform even the distant most relatives.”
He believed fully the soothsayers words, went home and partitioned his property and informed every relative and friend of the impending catastrophe. As days passed, he withdrew more to his room and refused to meet anyone. He started praying to Lord Krishna to make his death as painless as possible. As the prophesized day approached, he fasted and shut himself in his room praying all the time. On the 24th when dusk had fallen and when the new moon began to rise up in the east, there was a massive heart attack, he collapsed and died instantly.
Belief and expectations produced the reality.
Take the case of a child born in a slum, raised up in poverty living amidst all sorts of diseases. He sees various types of illnesses and poverty all the time. He hears about the death of the neighborhood children every other day. He does not feel strong himself. He feels he is not OK. The boy has not experienced prosperity or health any day. Naturally, he believes he is conditioned for penury and sickness all the time. And that becomes the truth.
You make your own misery or happiness by the attitude of your mind
Your core belief system –steeped in destiny and fate—may have induced that sort of an attitude.
And, you may say I was born that way; my parents were poor and sick all the time.
Well, nobody can change one’s past. But everyone can change his future.
Keep healthy mental pictures and they would eventually become real.
It may be difficult for you to always keep healthy mental pictures due to adverse early childhood environments.
Try if you want. If you change your thoughts and expectations you can change your destiny, otherwise you can wallow in abject poverty.
Rest assured that neither nature nor any god is interested whether you live or die, whether you suffer or enjoy whether you are poor or rich, healthy or sick. Nobody cares. You are totally and fully responsible for your life.
Our prosperity and success; poverty and failure; health, sickness, weight, energy levels, physical fitness, are all largely the offspring of our thoughts. The ones who intensely
desire a perfectly healthy body and mind to achieve their goals generally become healthy and fit. Their brains tend to look for healthy ways and means and they succeed all the time. They become careful in what they eat. They exercise and control their eating habits. They keep and maintain a picture of super health all the time and they naturally realize their aims.
When one chases a goal with his heart and his soul he has no time to brood about diseases or sicknesses. He takes health for granted. That is total belief. No wonder he/she becomes generally healthy all the time.
And how does this happen?
When you
dream or intensely desire something for long, it sinks into the subconscious mind. It becomes a belief there. And whatever the subconscious mind believes becomes the reality.
But how?
The subconscious mind is always one with the Universal Mind or Universal Intelligence. The belief in the subconscious is transmitted to the latter which transmutes it into reality almost instantly. But if it is a wish or a simple desire the transmutation may not be that instant. Your longing has to become a
faith first. But that is not very difficult.Keep the thoughts of what you want all the time in your conscious mind and it will soon percolate down to the subconscious mind. Over a period of time, it will be converted into a belief and the transmutation comes along..
