The modern man, despite developments all around, is vulnerable to ups and down in life, and is not safe at all. Perhaps tampering with the natural course has marred the natural phenomenon. Whatever be the cause, the truth is that man has invited the miseries on himself. It has been experienced that in the recent past there tend to be an increase in earthquakes, storms and hurricanes.
In prior times,
rains were always taken as boon and not as a bane. It used to
rain heavily but never caused massive blockades. Rainwater flowed in the open
drainage and in a day or two days, water was cleared and pools of water here and there could be seen which too dried away. So much so, rain was taken as a cure for small pimples caused due to hot weather. The houses had
proper outlets that flowed through streets and rainwater was stored in the pond situated
far away from the locality. It was a system and way of life prevailing since ages. Moreover, the residents used to be already ready for torrential rains with all precautions. Open drainage helped smooth flow of water and choking; if visible anywhere, could be removed easily.
However, population has taken a tremendous leap and cities have expanded far and wide. Lack of
planning and sprawling of new localities have given birth too many
civic problems. Underground drainage without proper maintenance / cleanliness has added to the discomforts in a citizen''s life When there is heavy rain, everything appears to be, submerged in water. Due to the downpour the people find it hard to go about their usual business. They prefer staying at their houses, in order to avoid massive road blocks and the filth all around. Their daily chores experience a halt and instead of enjoying God''s blessing, they become more frustrated.
All this happens due to lack of proper planning and civic sense. People wait for the monsoon season to end so they can resume their daily routines. Due to their busy routines, the beauty around them goes unnoticed. To enjoy and feel close to nature, the only solution now left is to visit the villages, where the civic sense and the need to enjoy nature is still alive.
