JOHN THE BAPTIST AND HEROD THE TETRARCH OF GALILEE:

Book Summary by: ELOCC

Original Author: BIBLE
John the Baptist was a young man of God whom was born during the governance of
the great Herod the King of Judea and, later he ministered for the word of God during the reign of Tiberius Caesar. At the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea and Herod  was  the tetrarch of Galilee. John’s father was called Zechariah and while his mother’s name was called Elizabeth.Zecharia, John’s father was a priest and Elizabeth, Jon’s mother was a housewife. Before birth of John, Elizabeth was barren and Zechariah her husband did prayers to God for a long time so that they could get a child.
Later their prayers were heard that one day when Zechariah the priest was ministering in the temple of God, the Engle of God spoke to him and promised him that he could get a son and since that time Zechariah was mute and unable to speak till their promised baby was born. Therefore Zechariah was directed by the Engle of God that when the baby will be born, should be given the name John. When the promised time reached, they got a baby son and named him John. When it reached the eighth day of his birth, John was circumcised.   During the reign of Tiberius Caesar, John was a great man in the sight of the Lord God for he was filled with the Holy Spirit since his mother’s womb and he went before his Lord God in the spirit and power of Prophet Elijah.
The purposes of Jon’s preaching were to turn the Israelis to their Lord God and to make them repent in order to get prepared for the
kingdom
of
God
which was to come for them. John the Baptist walked in the wildness preaching the baptism of repentance and for the remission of sins, he didn’t eat any food except locusts and wild honey. He clothed with camel’s hair and with leather belt around his waist
. Due all those most of the people thought that John the baptized had a demon
. He baptized many people from Jerusalem, all Judea and the entire region around the Jordan and he also stayed in deserts till the days of his manifestation to Israel.
In the year 30 AD, John the Baptist also baptized Jesus Christ in river Jordan, after then by the same year, John the baptized was put in prison by Herod the tetrarch because he rebuked him concerning taking Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife and all other evil he did.
Herodias was the wife of Philip who was the tetrarch of Iturea and the regions of Trachonitis and Philip was a brother of Herod the tetrarch of Galilee. When John the Baptist was in prison, he sent his disciples to seek assistance from Jesus. He thought that may be Jesus Christ could help him come out from the prison for him new that Jesus Christ was the King of Jews who was expected to rescue his people from their enemies.
He waited without any help and at last he totally lost his hope concerning his liberation from the prison. Jesus Christ did not provide any assistance to John the Baptist rather than assurance of the existence of his kingdom and he wondered to see a great prophet like John the Baptist loosing his hope after being thrown in prison. Jesus Christ also told the multitude of how john the Baptist was the greatest prophet among those born of women, but not greater than who is least in the kingdom of God. Later the head of John the baptized was cut off in the prison due to the command of Herod the tetrarch of Judea who wanted to fulfill his promise to Herodias’ will.
