Nicodemus was a man of the Pharisees whom was a ruler of
the Jews, and who had one a question which troubled his heart. Nicodemus problem was concerning the teaching of Jesus Christ about the second born of the people. This was really a new theology which Nicodemus seemed to have ever heard before, and it created many questions in his mind that was unable to answer to himself. This theological teaching put Nicodemus in a hard time being eager to know the reality of it.
Probably Nicodemus had previously heard that teaching from John the Baptist who was teaching his people to get prepared for the kingdom of God which was to come. John baptized many people and even Jesus Christ himself. So the teaching of John the Baptist was closely related to the teaching of Jesus Christ for them both was baptizing their disciples. The more days went on, is the more Nicodemus continued to get mind troubles concerning the teaching of born again.
Nicodemus was an educated person in God’s scriptures and due that he found himself in difficulties, thinking of how an educated person like him could go to tell his problem to a young person like Jesus, although he believed that Jesus Christ was from God. So Nicodemus felt it heard to go to ask Jesus Christ for he thought that the people from his community could see him like uneducated person, the thing which could make him to be in a great challenge because most of his people saw Jesus just as a young man that was not supposed to teach Nicodemus. To their own perspectives, they thought that
Nicodemus was the one whom was supposed to teach Jesus Christ because at that time he was also big in age than Jesus Christ and moreover he was a ruler of the Jews who had good understanding in God’s scriptures. But it reached one day when Nicodemus decided to go to Jesus Christ and told him his problem concerning the teaching of born again. Nicodemus wanted to get a clear definition and description on that theological terminology from Jesus himself. And because Nicodemus didn’t want people to see him going to tell his problem to Jesus Christ, he waited till it was night and went to him.
When Nicodemus reached to Jesus, he narrated him of how he knows him as a man from God. The Jesus Christ told Nicodemus of how a person couldn’t see the kingdom of God if he/she was not born again. That statement again marveled Nicodemus because he thought of how a person who was already born could be born again. But Jesus continued to insist on his statement that for any person to see the kingdom of God he/she should be born again. So, hence that was a great challenge to Nicodemus that still he could not understand nor believe easily. But again Jesus Christ told him trying to analyze him two different things which could just be as an example to make him to understand his theology easily. Jesus Christ told Nicodemus about the wind which blows to where it wishes and people hears its sound, but can’t tell where it comes from and where it goes.
There Jesus Christ was meaning that, what is born of the flesh is flesh and what is born of the spirit is spirit. So that’s how Jesus Christ shortly answered to Nicodemus question.
