This is an
Association of Christian business and professional men, bounded together in more than 170 countries for fellowship
and services of the word of God. The purpose of the
association is to promote the promulgation of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all mankind in the world that they might come to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. The Gideons international was established in the year 1899, and up to date for over 100 years now, the Gideons have been generously promoting the promulgation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through scriptures at which the Association has been able to distribute over 900 million Bibles and New Testaments to
various hotels, motels, hospitals, penal institutions, members of the armed forces, school students and those in public nursing field.
The Gideons include laymen from various Evangelical denominations, business and professional men with vital testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ. Each Gideon is usually an active member of some local church, and the Gideons as an Association works in co-operation with the Evangelical churches and denominations. Gideon is a name from the Bible in book of Judges in the old Testament which was chosen by the founders of the Association to be the name of the Association according to their purpose of promulgating the Gospel of Jesus Christ through out the world.
The Gideons identified how God had promised to bless his word and enhance it bear fruits which will honour him. And due that, the Gideons have always been in front line in making sure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is reaching to all people in the world. In making sure that the Gospel ministry is perpetual, the Gideons have been hospitable in providing their charitable contributions to the Association. So, the Gideons believe that God will bless all those who promote his work for they have witnessed various God’s blessings up on all people who kindly work for him.
And due that the Gideons have known that always God is keeping his promise to all who work for him. It’s a good time now for every mankind to be eager to read the word of God so as to know his will and ways of his blessings. Moreover, it’s the sincere prayer of the Gideons that the readers of the particular copies of the word of God, both Old and New Testaments, will also find the individual instructions and blessing that they may need as they read from the wonderful book of God.
