This study is intended to find out the real benefit gained by the farmers living in the vicinity of forest
plantation (Hutan Tanaman Industri or HTI) who are engaged in the activities of planting acacia using the pattern of Managing People-Owned Forest (Mengelola Hutan Rakyat or MHR) on the basis of the normal and abnormal growth volume, to know the nominal benefit gained by the farmers owning rubber plantation in the vicinity of forest plantation with standardized and non-stardardized process of production, and to know the determining factors which made the farmers join the pattern of Managing People-Owned Forest (Mengelola Hutan Rakyat or MHR).
The method used in the study is survey method. The result of the study shows that an average income per household head from acacia plantation with normal growth volume on an average of 3.03 ha of land is Rp 49,604,991.03,- and an average income per household head from acacia plantation with abnormal growth volume on an average of 2.44 ha of land is Rp 27,433,168.04,-. An average income per household head from rubber plantation with standardized process of production on an average of 2.76 ha of land is Rp 25,206,819.87,- While an average income per household head from rubber plantation with non-standardized process of production on an average of 2.10 ha of land is Rp 7,863,431.64,- The real benefit of acacia plantation with normal growth volume per ha is an average of Rp 30,534,796.5,- The real benefit of rubber plantation with standardized process of production per ha is an average of Rp 9,080,452.97,- The real benefit of acacia platation with abnormal growth volume per ha is an average of Rp 16,137,826,- The real benefit of rubber plantation with non-standardized process of production per ha is an average of Rp 4,278,248.1,-
The determining factors which influenced the farmers to join the pattern of Managing People-Owned Forest (Mengelola Hutan Rakyat or MHR) are the following: PK: Income (NPV) from rubber plantation (Rp/year), PS: Income (NPV) from acacia plantation (Rp/year), D: Dummy of level of education (D = 1 for junior high school level and above it, D = 0 for elementary school level and below it), U: Age of household head (year), FB: Frequency of guidance for owners of acacia plantation (times/month), JK: Distance of the acacia plantation from the village (Km), PA: Cost of fertilizer for acacia (Rp/year).
