Ever since man’s appearance on this planet a number of god have been invented and
adored by man. There are good
and evil ones. He tries to appease the evil ones and propitiate and please the good ones. But so far there has been no evidence of their existence outside man’s mind and no trace of any help or punishment coming from any one nor any prayer of man has been so far answered.
But sun deserves absolutely to be adored as God. It sends down adequate
energy to the earth for the last 5 billion or so years. No less no more. If more energy comes down, the entire life will be burnt up. If it sends less, the whole civilization would be frozen up.
It was the energy of the sun which caused life to form and evolve to the present advanced level. There would not be any life without its abundant and steady supply of its life-giving rays. It created, preserved and sustains life and all of us should be grateful to it. It can si9ply replace God in every sense of the term.
In many
ancient societies, sun has been looked upon with supernatural powers and was venerated as Surya in Hinduism. He was pictured sometimes at par with Varuna (the wind god), Indra ( the god of thunder) and Agni ( the god of fire).and at other times above or below them.
But the ancient Hindu philosophers failed to understand the simple fact that sun causes wind, thunder, and fire. All the nature phenomena which the ancient people deified are derive their power from the sun. He is the real power source and protector and preserver of life. He is all powerful and supreme in this sense.
Sun alone deserves to be respected and adored It is heartening to see there are still people in countries like India who worship the sun. It makes a lot of sense to do so. And all other gods are simply the creations of early man’s fertile imagination due to his inadequate knowledge of
