Today I read that a Palestinian gunman killed 8 students and wounded at least 9 inside a Jewish seminary in
Jerusalem. How horrendous! We have been reading such stories before too. How can the terrorists kill innocent kids? What have they done to deserve death? They were studying what their elders told them to.
The Palestine militant group, Hamas described the attack as ‘heroic ‘ and hundreds supporting the action poured into streets of Gaza city.
Those who were killed were the
children of the settlers of Gaza and the school have been the nerve centre of the Israeli settler movement inside the West bank.
But whatever be the ideological reason, how can an organization send gunmen to shoot down innocent kids? This is not the first time that the terrorists have attacked and killed children .
Is it not monstrous and demonic –whatever is the reason that they are motivated by?
The UN secretary general has called the attack ‘savage.’
We had also read about such killings by gunmen in the US schools for trivial reasons. Many a time the gunmen were abnormal or they acted upon some instinctive impulse. But premeditated massacre of kids for a cause is
unpardonable. Let them kill the soldiers who protect the perpetrators of the crime or the wrong policies. Let them fight the cause in legal courts. Or, they can even declare war on the culprits. But killing the innocents – whatever be the reason--- is unpardonable.
