directors or singers did not reach there just like that. When
millions adore them and queue to get a glimpse of them everyone tend to forget the toil they put in to reach where they did. Many of them had gone through very humiliating experiences before they succeeded to show their face in the celluloid. Sylvester Stallion had over a thousand ‘no’s before a director ventured to give him a small role! There are many like him who became famous the hard way. I remember a particular actor of south India, Mammotty , who carried the dream of entering the film world for almost 25 years before he could do so. He was born in an ordinary house which did not have any connection with he film-world. From his very young days he started Mimi crying the established artistes of the time and later he started to present his shows to anyone who would listen and wherever possible in stages with very thin audiences. So many
directors turned him down, They were not even willing to give him even an extra’s role. Undaunted he continued with his intense desire. His family forced him to take up law and marry and settle. He thus became a lawyer and started practicing. But his whole mind was in acting. After a long wait he got a very insignificant role. That was not noticed at all. It took a long thereafter to get a serious role. Then there was no stopping. Roles poured in. He became on the greatest actors of all time. He became India’s number one actor many a time and won many other prestigious awards.
