clear case of sexual violation but most women prefer to ignore it. Many of them are advised to dress modestly to avoid it
outside and come home on time to get rid problems at home.
There is a lot of sexual harassment on the roads, in the buses, railway stations and trains. No girl can pass by without a derisive comment or the ugly exposure of an ugly song. As they try to board a bus or train they are subjected to a squeeze here a touch there or a
poking in the most undesirable place. There are those who make it a point to press against an woman in a crowded bus or train and enjoy the pleasure of the continuing with the pressure maintained at peak levels. If she does not protest, the thing will go on until the natural pressure releasing system comes to work.
There is the story of a man who followed a lady traveling in a bus for 15 kms. When she alighted and shouted at him he was so casual and mentioned that he had not touched her yet and all that he wanted was to ask her out for a coffee. What a way to ask a strange girl for a date!
The term eve
teasing has come to stand for staring, pinching, stalking, hooting, singing with sexual undertones and flashing objects. I still remember a guy who used to piss by standing towards his neighbor’s house when he knew the lady of the house is outside doing her daily chores.
Well, in Kerala no girl can pass alone through the roads without inviting derisive comments. No woman-whatever be her age-will be spared. Then imagine their plight at night or after dusk has fallen. This made an Italian tourist comment that Kerala is the most sex-hungry place in the world. (These days the tourists are not spared too)
Many Indian states could be similar.
