The history of women can be seen as a long catalogue of suffering,
oppression and injustice. From time
immemorial she has
been like more or less a slave of man who utilized her for his sexual gratification and pleasure whenever he felt like. Children came as a byproduct and according to his innate feelings he provided for the mother and the child. But she was always a tool in his hands and he handled her the way it pleased him.
She is not intellectually inferior to him. Studies show that she is better in many facets of intelligence. She has a better EQ and she is better equipped to handle emotional issues. She understands people better and she is a more understanding leader than him.
But history has given no place to her at all. In Aristotle’s view women were deformed men. In the feudal Japan, they were marred from climbing the holy mount Fiji because they would pollute it. Unhappily married women were expected to commit suicide. Buddhist text sees her as an emissary of hell. In one German University 600 thesis were submitted to prove that women were not humans! In the middle ages only women were termed as witches. In many of the Islamic states she is still virtually a slave. She is, even today, subjected to ‘bride burning’, domestic violence, ‘dowry persecution’ and slave trade.
Her
oppression is universal; her place is outside history.
