violence effect women and Girls most, because of their social, economic, political status.
Gender Based violence(GBV) manifest inform of physical violence, economical, psychological/emotional and sexual violence.Abuse of power has been identified as the root cause of GBV while contributing factors like alcholism, drug abuse, poverty, war, displacement, lawlessness are just fueling factors.
GBV has advance
consequences on surviors, health consequences like unwanted pregnacies, unsafe abotions, infertility, STI/ HIV among others, then psysical consequences like: dissability, injuries, death, among others. Emotonal consequences like fear, shame, stress, trauma among others.
because of the above consequences their is need to handle the surviors very carefull not do more ham to them. there fore there are guiding principles of confidentiality in handling the issues of the survivor,including the records due to trauma attached to it. Respecting the wish of the survior, providing security and safety for the survior.
Gender based violence require multi-sectoral approach and synagies between GBV and other sectors like reproductive health, HIV/AIDS be realised.
