I finished my MSc in Industrial design, post completion of my BSc
(hons) in Product Design & development, about
ten years ago. I''ve
endeavored to advise and pep talk a number of budding designers and
creative types since then and have come to the conclusion that it all
depends on how important money is to you. What i mean is, design is
about as close to getting a
regular income for being an artist doing a
hobby as it gets, but that regular income, unless you hit on a patent
for the next big thing, is just going to remain just that, a job which
is
really a hobby and what it lacks in pay makes up for the fact you
know in your heart of hearts that you not really working, you love it!
And if you don''t love it, well, you just ain''t a designer I''m afraid.
