Tribal Architecture

Book Summary by: Anonymous

Original Author: Dr.O.P.Joshi
There are 461 tribes in India. Tradtionally all tribes construct their houses with clay, Bamboos,  cowdung and husk.
Some tribes who live on mountains make their houses with stone slates and wood sleepers.
Each tribe has their layout of house and map in their own way. Villages are small and houses are constructed by themselves in which women work as planners, labourers and decorators.
The roofs, walls and floors are are constructed in such a way that a family may get proper space, air and sunlight. The concept of architecture remains limited to modern buildings, and we forget the simple huts. I shall be presenting the tribal architecture from all directions of India and compare with African tribal architecture.
The book will have photographs, sketches and maps of houses and villages.
Tribes have their own youth houses, temples and burial places with memorials, one chapter will be devoted to each theam.
References will be given.
