Hindu priestess in White House advisory council Religion is probably spreading more hatred throughout
the globe than any other act of human race. On the other hand, the global population would not accept its disappearance also. Then, what is the step to be taken for its survival in a delightful atmosphere all over the world?
Faith based Advisory Council of US government is certainly a right approach in this direction. The way of life is different from one corner of the globe to another. People are concerned with what they are doing locally, and ingrain a deep belief on that. Their knowledge of other religion is limited; leave alone the enumerable rituals that are maintained in other religions. Once all are exposed to all the religions’ inside stories, it would possibly throw away certain inhibitions people have in their minds.
Anju Bhargava (42), an Indian American, is a priestess in the personal level, and a banker professionally in the United States. She also holds the post of President of Asian Indian Women in America. The government there has included her in the Advisory Council recently.
After her appointment, she informed the press that she intends to part knowledge about Hinduism to the people. Understanding Hinduism, or for that matter any religion, one needs to know in depth the inside of that religion, she opined. Hindus perform hundreds of rituals that may seem meaningless to others, who do not know the real meaning of those rituals. Hence, it is pertinent to explain people about those. Symbols are another aspect of Hinduism. These too carry some inner meanings, and have to be informed, she said.
Generally, a person starts following religion from his/her childhood. In the adult stage, the person become mature, and looks at things in a different perspective rationally. And, he/she might drop rituals as per his/her perception of rational thinking, and take the path of philosophy. Unlike others, Anju went into Puja (Worship) after 25 years of life. For her, the philosophy came first, and then rituals, she proudly explained.
She wants to remove the misapprehension of people about Hinduism by informing them the actual meaning of rituals and symbols of Hinduism.
