In the physical life the soul is constantly exposed to new impressions that create a continuous state of unrest but to ascend into the spiritual world it must become steady and quiet so that the events may pass before us.
There we have to got out of ourselves to bring things to us from the outside. During life if something wrong happens, we can change things and correct mistakes; but once we have passed the threshold of the spiritual world this is no more possible to do, so we must way the return to the physical plane, improve our disposition to do better than previously thanks to a careful preparation before going to the spiritual world.
Otherwise the vision that appear to us could only be a reflection of our feeling and thoughts, virtues and defects. But what is the relationship between the visionary world we can find through initiation or because of a shock, and the realm in which one dwells between death and a new birth?
In the above mentioned period we live in a world where we meet those with whom we were connected on earth and we receive our perception by way of visions. Such meeting after death are accompanied by deep feelings : even if we make amends for what we did on earth, there’s no way to change things.
We are surrounded by the memories of our life and on the basis of them we must develop the faculty to receive the light of the higher hierarchies. But a person with an immoral soul disposition has his consciousness dimmed : this cause great fear. Later , the lack of a religious soul disposition plays a part by stopping a further development after death.
During the pre – christian times all men lost their consciousness once in the third period after their death. In fact, in the whole of Buddha’s teachings we don’t find any detailed description of the spiritual world and during the periodo f the Greek civilization, the Greeks experienced it as a realm of shades. They couldn’t maintain the consciousness described during the third phase after death.
Men could only procure it by under standing what occorre at the Mistery of Golgotha. In our times,by studying the modern philosophy man can look inward where he finds the Ego as a firm point of reference and this experience was bestowed upon him through the Mistery of Golgotha : the possibility of recognizing the divine in a human
Individuality ( the Christ ).
But now a general egoism prevail to create obstacles to maintain one’s consciousness in the third period after death; today the Christ is only valid inasmuch as one can acknowledge Him through the reasoning.
So, if we understand the Mistery of Golgotha on earth we can use this knowledge to cooperate in the correction of the faults that we bear in our soul as a result of our Karma.
Spiritual Science takes an objective position towards all religious creeds : the importance given to the Mistery of Golgotha is simply an occult reality. It is an objective fact that by means of the understanding of the Mistery of Golgotha we give our soul the possibility to cross the abyss between death and rebirth.
