Kaip was the last Khan of all the Khazakhs. His descendents partitioned the Horde into Elder (south and east), Intermediate (central and northern), and Younger (western) districts, called respectively the Uli Zhuz, Orta Zhuz, and the Kishi Zhuz. These divisions had existed before, from the 16th century, in fact - but from 1718 they were permanent.
