What are men running against? Men now a day are running against fictional characters. Given that TV shows and movie character have defined what women really look for in a man? But is this real, are TV shows written by men that know that it would be impossible to exist in those types of circumstance. I can almost picture the writers laughing at their projects, and stating “I’d never do something like that, that’s so lame.” It is lame and it is cliché but most of us hope to one day hear these clichés, we are being taught day by day what the good catch should be like. Strong, sensitive, goal oriented and funny. Or even in the case of the bad boy who turns good, they are building expectations in women. Women who are with their drug addict boyfriends thinking that just like in the movies, one day he will realize that he can lose her and with a little help of a miracle he looks for help. The guys in shows like What about Brian who have so many problems yet still they remain
perfect. They remain perfect because they learn from their mistakes, yet that not usually the case with guys. Their jerk like attitude which is usually justified by some sort of trauma created in them, which just makes us over look the things wrong with them. Most guys will not sit with you more the five minutes to discuss where your futures are heading.
Yet even though are guys are not perfect characters of Gilmore girls, they are real. And
maybe when you break up he will not run after you to the airport, and maybe he won’t call you that night telling you the sweets lines you have ever read. However next time your sick he’ll call you to ask you if you alright and maybe he’ll not invite his friends over as often just to spend more time with you. Guys will not always make grand gestures the sort you will see in movies, yet they will prove to you that they are better then these fictional guys, because even though it is in their nature to be who they are, they will fight against it at times.
Be
careful what you wish for ladies and be careful what you lose, in search for some fantasy.
