The Welfare Degree of Seaweed Household and Its Working Allocation at the Pari Island was a research

for measuring how much income that could be earned by household from seaweed culture; measuring how much proportional income from each member of household; assesing others income that could be earned from other livelihood; measuring the prosperity degree of seaweed household and measuring working allocation of seaweed farmer at Pari island.
Pari island is one of island (106 islands) at the group of island in Seribu Island that laid at Java Sea and administratively in the authority of Tidung Island Village (now belongs to Pari and Lancang Island Village).  Pari Island is also one of potential island for developing seaweed culture.  This island valued succeed in seaweed culture implementation , which was produced higher seaweed than others in Seribu Island (in 1995, 27.84 tonnes) or 43.11 % from the total amount of seaweed production of Seribu Island (64.57 tonnes).  This bussiness impacted the prosperity degree of seaweed household, which was one of the indicator of welfare is the income itself that is also influenced by their working allocation in order to threat their bussiness.
The used research method was survey and the collected data was secondary and primary data.  The collecting data was conducted with simple random sampling, which was 50 respondent from 121 seaweed household at the Pari Island.  Analyzing data was conducted through the process of editing, numbering, and taging that desciptively explained.
The welfare degree measured using eleven indicators from BPS (center for statictical agency).  The prosperity degree also measured as an additional using income approach and expenditure approach that used for measuring the limit of food and non-food standard from BPS.
Most of population (82.31%) in Pari Island had seaweed culture as their main livelihood, and others worked different.
The annual average income that could be earned by seaweed household at Pari Island was Rp. 4.96 milion, which was 64.51% from seaweed culture and 35.49% form others.
The daily average of effective wroking time per respondent was 5.62 hours that allocated for seaweed culture 2.95 hours and 2.67 hours for others, which was Rp. 2.9 thousand per hours for seaweed culture and Rp. 1.1 thousand per hours for others.
The annual average expenditure that could be expended for living was Rp. 4.54 milion, which was for food 48.69% and 51.31% for non-food.  The proporcy of expenditure for non-food was higher than for food, it indicated that the welfare degree of seaweed household was well being.
Based on Sajogjo approach, the seaweed household in Pari Island was not-poor.  It was indicated from income per capita per month (Rp.91.3 thousand) higher than expenditure per capita per month (Rp.43.9 thousand).
The average welfare degree of respondent in Pari Island catagorized high, with the average score 27.20.  The highest respondent had score 33 and the lowest 21.
