His name is Iyas bin Mu''awiyah ibn al-Muzanni Qurrah born in the year 46 H in the Yamamah Nejed. He
includes the generation tabi''in generation who met with the Prophet
peace and blessings friend ''alaihi wa salam, but did not get to meet the
Messenger of Allaah'' alaihi wa salam.
Have been present for talent and intelligence son al-Muzanni this one since childhood. People often talk about the greatness and the news even though he was a child.
It
has been reported that as a child he studied arithmetic at a school
taught by Jewish scholars dhimma (subject to be under warranty and the
Islamic rulers, not to Islam but to pay taxes). One
day his friends gathered together from among the Jews, then they are
absorbed in talking about their faith without realizing that Iyas also
listen.
Jewish teacher said to my friends Iyas, "Do not you surprised by the Muslims it? They said that they will eat in heaven, but do not have a bowel movement? "
Iyas turned to him and said,
Iyas: "May I intervene in the case that you perbincangkan O teacher?"
Teacher: "Please!"
Iyas: "Do all that is eaten in the world out into the dirt?"
Teacher: "No!"
Iyas: "So that is not where he had gone out of it?"
Teacher: "channeled as physical food."
Iyas: "So you deny what grounds? If
the food we eat in the world only partially absorbed by the body is
missing, then it is impossible not entirely absorbed by the body in
heaven and become physical food. "
Feeling
lost the argument, the teacher gives a signal with his hand as he said
to Iyas, "May Allah mematikanmu before adulthood."
In another story, never any duhqan (such as position in the Persian advance headman) who came to his association Iyas and asked,
Duhqan: "O Abu Wa''ilah, what do you think about strong drink?"
Iyas: "Haram!"
Duhqan: From the side where it says forbidden, while he was nothing more than fruit and treated water, while both are halal? "
Iyas: "Do thou, O Duhqan done yet, or still want you to express?"
Duhqan: "Already, please talk!"
Iyas: "If I take water and kusiramkan in your face, do you feel sick?"
Duhqan: "No."
Iyas: "If I took a handful of sand and threw it to you, does it feel pain?"
Duhqan: "No."
Iyas: "If I take a handful of cement and threw it to you, does it feel pain?"
Duhqan: "No."
Iyas:
"Now, if I took a handful of sand and cement kucampur, then pour water
over it and stir, then kujemur to dry, then kupukulkan into your head,
do you feel sick?"
Duhqan: "Yes, it can even kill me."
Iyas: "That was the case with The wine. When you collect the parts and if you''re a strong drink, then she becomes unclean. "
Being elected Qadhi
Because of the primacy which he had, he once believed to be the Qadi in Basrah during the caliphate of Umar bin Abdul Aziz. Umar
bin Abdul Aziz initially have two choices of candidates is Iyas and
al-Qasim ibn Rabi''a al-Harithi that both horse racing twin tub in ilm
fiqh, firm and strong in the truth, brilliant thoughts and right in his
view. Each has its own advantages. So he sent his guardian in Iraq named Adi bin Arthah to choose between them.
Adi
bin Arthas reconcile between Iyas and al-Qasim and said, "Commander of
the believers - may Allah lengthen his age - asked me to pick one of you
as the head of the Basra court. How do you two? "
Each one says that a major rekannyalah while mentioning virtue, science and kefakihannya.
Adi said, "You must not get out of here before you decide."
Iyas
said, "O Amir, you can inquire about me and al-Qasim told two prominent
Iraqi jurists that Hasan al-Basri and Muhammad ibn Sirin, because
keduanyalah the most capable of distinguishing between the two of us."
Iyas
said that because al-Qasim was a disciple of both these scholars, while
Iyas itself does not have any relationship with them. Al-Qasim
realized that Iyas would discredit him, because if the Iraqi leader was
consulted by the two scholars were, they would have voted for him and
not Iyas. Then he immediately turned to Adi and said, "O Amir, do not you ask perihalku to anyone. For the sake of Allah is no god but Him, Iyas understand more about the religion of God than I do and be better able to judge. When I lie in this vow, then you should not choose me because it means giving the position to someone who is flawed. If I''m honest, you should not be a lower priority to people, whereas here there are more mainstream. "
Iyas turned to the amir and said, "O Amir, you call the people to become judges. Supposing
you put it on the edge of the inferno, then that person (al-Qasim)
wanted to save himself with a false oath that he could ask for
forgiveness to God by Him beristighfar and safe from what he was afraid
of. "
So Adi said to Iyas, "People who think like you is what deserves to be the judge."
Then was appointed as Qadi Iyas in Basra
