The best definition of “
Perspective” would be “the frame in which you will place a photo.” If the frame is good, the
picture
will also look good and vice-versa.
If the frame is not appropriate, the
picture will not look, the way it ought to be. Even an average picture or painting looks very nice in a classic designer frame. This is what
perspective is. What you see is what you wanted to see or what you see is the way you see it.
The perspective of an optimist is to see the glass as ‘half full’ while tat of a pessimist is to see the same glass as ‘half empty’.
You see the things or events or people, the way you wish to see them.
I would like to take the simplest example to explain what is meant by ‘Perspective’. When a movie is released, some people like it very much, some people say ‘it was OK’, while some don’t like it at all. Why is that so when the story, direction, star-cast and every other detail is the same for all the viewers? The reason is that they all see the movie with their own ‘Perspective’ and derive the meaning they wanted to. That is why the story makes sense to some audience and it is ‘non-sense’ for others.
Perspective can change the way we look at things and our reactions to the situations depends much on our perspective towards many things in life.
We must make sure, through various exercises, that we have a good perspective for life and its substance.
