Sometimes I wonder whether or not
education for the Gifted gets enough attention. Afterall, the handicapped are well
covered and the pressure in the UK is to sleight the "Gifted"
and focus on the needy, the poor and forget all about the needs of the Gifted Members of our Society.
In children it is important to focus on
giftedness as it shows early in the childhood of gifted children .... the hard to handle infant was in fact disguising giftedness ... and the
endless need for stimulation is another key point in diagnosing giftedness.
In fact I taught and worked with gifted children and their academic success is part of their struggle to maintain their positions in school and later on in life. But often one hears the comment ..... why help Gifted Children .. they can get on without anyone .. . not
necessarily true ... I found during my teaching of gifted children that their needs were as great if not greater than those of the less able ..
I still feel we should shed light on this specialism in Giftedness in
Education. Excellent stuff .. keep on reading ... abstracts ....
