THE HOLY BIBLE
The
Holy Bible is the sacred writings
composed of the Old Testament of foty-five
books written before the
birth of Jesus Christ, and the New Testament of twenty-seven books written after His birth. The Bible contains truths which God revealed to us by inspired
writing, that is, by writing which has been guided by
divine influence. Since the Church, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, explains divine revelation, the faithful depend on the Church to interpret the Bible, provided they read an approved text, and certain indulgences are granted for such reading. The Holy Bible is called a
LIBRARY because it is composed of many books.
