Prepared by members of the Institute for Cultural Action (
IDAC) team, this book is an eye-opener and a MUST-READ for parents, teachers and pupils about the way schools typically are today.
The document deals with the
school, this ever-present institution of the modern
industrial society. Their analysis is
based on examples taken from the Western European
context in which they live. Nevetheless, the
questions raised here have a broader reach, since they also concern the educational systems in other parts of the world, which have all been influenced by this Western European model.
The format of the book is very very interesting... it reads more or less like a comic book! The illustrations are sharply precise to the context under discussion. The book throws up more questions than it can answer, perhaps because the answers cannot be found within thr paradigm in which our education system operates today.
IDAC is a non-profit collective based in Geneva, Switzerland.
