The book in question meets results of research and surveys conducted by the Center for Studies of Violence (NEV) from Sao Paulo, within the program Cepid, of the Foundation of refuge à Pesquisa do Estado de Sao Paulo - Fapesp, dealing with schools in areas with high rates of criminal violence. The second chapter, conflict and insecurity school in the areas east and south of the city of São Paulo, written by Caren Ruotti is based on studies by NEV / USP in public schools located in remote areas of this municipality, in the years 2002 and 2003.
