Reports on research findings]. „Szkoła Specjalna”, nr 1, 2008, s.19-38. This article attempts to show the experience of children with hearing impairment I relation to motivation and perceptual limitations in the scope of learning the English language. It outlines the findings of the author’s own research which included 24 questions asking students to define their motivation to learn the English language, its circumstances , the activities which accompany the learning process, awareness of hearing impairment and this influence on foreign language acquisition. Also, it discusses the pragmatic side of learning, i.e. the intended usefulness of the English language in the students’ life in relation to their future.
