Often as I take my place and position up in the Library at the University of Southampton I imagine I hear the voices of my past who once thronged the academic corridors where I walked and worked: was that Old Mrs Jones
who had just dropped in whose time in retirement is filled with coming in and out of this Univesity Library!
Or had old Mrs Jones not ever thought it through that now that she was in retirement and no longer an
active lecturer at the University she had finally lost her class!
Why then one wondered as I sat surrounded by Social Scientists - and Professors of our day - would they have the
time to worry or think through Old Mrs Jones problems: As I passed by I noticed she sat in a circle of
students and gazed down on her notebook and spent hours reading her own notes as if it were the only reader
in the world who would ever read Mrs Jones old notes presumably once penned for her students!
So this left a lasting impression on my young mind as Dr Diamond popped in and out of the department office I kept my head buried in my work so much so that it must have entered my mind then how to escape from Old Mrs Jones
dillemma:
So now that Dr Diamond is a Professor: and is titled: Professor Diamond who is a FBA: FRSE: AcSS: Vice Chancellor of Aberdeen Appointed April 1 2O1O and most impressive too as Professor Diamond is also a Trustee of the World Wildlife Fund UK: So much for Old Mrs Jones as I have written 4 books and they are published not here in England
but in the United States of America: but who reads them! I will keep posting the outcome! to Southampton University UK! Nice work!
