POPULATION AND SAMPLE
In
taking samples of the population and there are two kinds of approaches
that can be used according to the needs of researchers in conducting
research through:
Quantitative Research
In this study population and sample terms used only for quantitative research. population
is a generalization region consisting of subject and object that has
certain qualities and characteristics are determined by the researcher
and then drawn conclusions. while the sample is a portion of the population.
The sampling technique used in this study according to the criteria of the population taken as random sampling. Samples
taken at random is expected to represent the condition of the
population, if it can not represent the population, the sample can not
be used in this study.
Qualitative Research
The
mention of the term population for qualitative research is a "social
situation" means a social situation that consists of three elements,
namely where (place), players (actors) and activity (activity) that
interact simultaneously. social situation in question can occur at home, on the road, at work, in town or in the country or region of a country. sampling in qualitative research is not mentioned but the respondents referred to as a resource.
The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and snowball sampling. purposive sampling means sampling in accordance with predetermined criteria. while
snowball sampling means sampling the first bit then became much in
keeping with the needs of researchers, for researchers have not found
what you expect it will continue to increase the number of samples.
Criteria informants in qualitative research is as follows:
- Those who master and understand something related to research
- Those who were involved in the study
- Those who have the time to requests for information
- Those who did not provide information on the results "package" yourself
- Those unfamiliar with researchers
