Palestinians should have nuclear weapons: Kadhafi
Nuclear weapons are deadly and devastating
in nature. Any nation that possesses this device would not use it unless an extraordinary situation has arrived. The main idea to have the
nuclear weapon is to have deterrence against irresponsible and so-called powerful countries.
Today’s world order is such that smaller countries with financial capabilities are not allowed to develop nuclear weaponry because of its grave consequences. Countries that do not have democratic set-ups are subject to make whimsical mistakes due to one person’s capricious decision. That is why; the UN body is given the mandate to control the spread of nuclear weapons further.
Kadhafi’s contention is justifiable in the sense that every country should have equal opportunities in terms of military equipments and accessories. However, other equipments cannot be compared with the nuclear weapons because of its shocking nature.
The name of the countries he has mentioned such as Egypt, Syria, and Saudi Arabia do not fall in the category of developed state with full form democracy. Hence, his contention cannot be taken seriously. Equality is good in many aspects, but certainly not in respect to nuclear weapons.
Talking about Israel, it is completely different in the sense that its position is more vulnerable than any other country in that region. Moreover, Israel is one country that not only maintains full democratic conventions, it also believes in hard work to make it the best in the world. The simple logic that if Israel has the nuclear capability, other countries in the region too must have it is justified one.
Palestinians, in spite of having suffered the most in the world, should discard the idea of Kadhafi, and take prudent approach to establish their country.
