Welfare State Part 2

Article Summary   by:DrAntolic

Because the voter will always vote in favor of his our needs, America has become more and more dependent on public resources, just to get by. When I was a child no one talked about needing help from the government. Most American's were ashamed of not being able to make ends meat. But in today's America we can just turn on the Television and see commercials about attorneys trying to get your business to help you get onto SSI and become a prisoner of government dependence. In the neighborhoods hood of North Portland, the most common conversation has to do with the Welfare System and how the government has been screwing some one out of their handout. It was for this reason that our founding fathers rendered the Constitution. They knew that a Democracy by its self will fail on account of what Saint Paul calls the natural man.

Historians have long believed that Rome failed because her people had gotten soft and began to think that the government owed them something. Is this the direction our country has headed? Remember that the Constitution reads, “We The People,” so we can assume that the Welfare mentality has found its way into government as well. After all what is the absurd number of our National Debt? Is this what our wonderful democratic rule does for us? If our culture does not become better stewards of our resources we will fallow in the footsteps of our Roman brothers.
