War-
Such a frightening word. The images flash across our television screens and we are numb. Why? The protestors march against it and yell at the cameras saying it's not necessary. Says who? If it weren't for our troops across the years, these people wouldn't have the Freedom to say how they feel. If it weren't for our troops, I would also not have this right to say what I am saying now. I watch the images on my television screen and see the articles in the newspapers and wonder when I might see or hear someone I know. Brave men and women in a strange and terrifying country, fighting for a freedom that we take for granted.
Have we forgotten our history lessons. Let me refresh your memory- Hitler, Concentration camps, the Berlin Wall, the Cold War, Pearl Harbor, the murders at the Olympic Village and September 11th. What kind of images are flashing in your mind now? Smiling children, romping pups and rainbows- I think not. Have we forgotten the soot and glass raining down on men and women running for their lives only a very short time ago? Have we forgotten the images of frantic men and women jumping from office windows to escape these buildings, only to die on the sidewalks below? Witnessing the Twin Towers collapsing upon themselves with people still inside, because our own airplanes were used against us as a bomb, was almost more than I could take. And now we are in the terrorists home country, fighting for their countrymen's freedom. My nephews were both called upon to fight for this freedom, one has returned home now from the Army to his small son and expecting wife, the other, a Marine, is still there. He is part of India Troop, a group that has been involved in sweeping for roadside bombs on one occasion. Please say a prayer for them and all who fight for our Freedom, and the Freedom of all.
