How can you be successful at a job interview? I’m sure everybody has asked this question and I also suspect that many never found the answer. Those old worn-out pieces of advice, like dress elegantly, be clean and groomed sound familiar to everybody. BUT you don’t necessarily have to dress elegantly because if you are wearing something uncomfortable and you squirm, the job interview can’t be successful either. Therefore you should wear something that you feel comfortable and self-confident in. Of course, you shouldn’t wear torn clothes… And what is even more important: you should definitely inquire about the company and the job. Most people make a mistake when they don’t check up on the company thoroughly enough. Some of the most common questions at a job interview are: What do you know about the company? Why are you interested in this position? And to be able to answer these questions, you should know about the company. And what may be even more important is that you should never answer that you applied for the position because you need a job. It doesn’t work anywhere, the company leaders like to hear that you applied for a position because it’s your dream job or because the company is so attractive to you that you can imagine your future there. Some more advice: be open-minded, creative and always look into your conversation partner’s eyes. Don’t hint about anything negative. Don’t criticize the company, the place, the job, except if your are asked to but in this case you should do it in a sophisticated way. If you want to be successful, trust yourself and not the training companies… you should win the battle for yourself and not for anybody else!
