The main goal of this study is explore the relation between psychological
absorption and the incidence of
apparitional experiences. For this purpose, it was designed an electronic
scale of 46 items that were available on internet for a period of time. The scale included The Tellegen Absorption Scale and items about psi experience,
related to psi and to dreams that were choice in a random way. It was obtained one hundred and twenty five scales of Peruvian participants. (Mean age: 30 .78; Male= 46%, Female=54%.) The results show a positive correlation between the punctuations in the Tellegen Absorption Scale and the apparitional
experiences reports Experiences, Mean= 20.49; No Experiences, Mean= 18.00: t=-1.90, p
=.03). Also, it found positive associations between the incidence of apparitional experiences and some factors of the absorption scale. Responsiveness to engaging stimuli: (t=-1.82, p =.036); Synesthesia ( t=-2.81, p =.003); Vivid Reminiscence (t=-1.81, p =.036). The results in this study suggest that the apparitional experiences could be related with cognoscitive process similar to psychological absorption.
